Chapter Philanthropy and Service

The founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Danny Thomas, had a dream that no child should die in the dawn of life. His commitment to helping find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases lead to the hospital being opened in 1962. Since 1999, Tri Delta chapters across the nation have come together to help raise awareness and money for the hospital that runs on $1.8 million a day and never makes a family pay for anything.

In 2014, Tri Delta had the honor of being named “Partner of the Year” for our commitment and dedication to raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We have set many goals for our fundraising commitments and have continuously met these goals sooner than we thought possible. In 2006, we had a goal to meet $10 million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili’s Care center and we reached that in just four years. Recently, Tri Delta’s had a goal to reach $15 million in 5 years and we’re excited to announce we’ve reached that goal in just 3.5 years! A new fundraising goal was announced this past summer that Tri Delta’s will be committing to raising $60 million in 10 years to name the “Tri Delta Place”, which will be an on-campus, short- term living facility at the hospital. We love being a part of something that can make a difference in the world for all children.

Phi Chapter was recently awarded with being the second best fundraiser in the Silver Division. This is an amazing accomplishment for us and we’re always trying to find new ways to raise more. To help raise money for St. Jude, we hold an event called Tri- Hop in the spring. Tri-Hop is an all you can eat pancake breakfast that is opened to any one in our community. This past spring we raised over $3,000 dollars and couldn’t have ended our school year in a better way. During the fall, our chapter participates in Sincerely Yours, which is a letter writing campaign that asks for donations. Each member of our chapter writes letters to family and friends explaining about St. Jude and what they can do to help. Last fall we raised over $46,000 from letter writing donations and we hope to surpass that this upcoming fall. In one year, our chapter raised almost $50,000 for the children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is more than any other Greek chapter on our campus.

In 2021, Phi chapter was awarded for raising money for St. Jude. We got third in the country for the amount of money we raised. Our chapter has raised a total of $68,185!

In 2022, Phi chapter had multiple fundraising events including Tri-Scoop, Sincerely Yours, and Delta Donuts! Through these events, we were able to raise over $28,000 for St. Jude during the 2022-23 school year.

We are so grateful to be able to support St. Jude!
